Wow...I'm not really sure where to start, so I'll just start at the very beginning. This mission trip started way before we arrived at the church early on the morning of April 19th. It was obviously all in God's plan for Brent and I to be on this team of amazing people that would be going to an amazing place.
Back in the Fall of 2007, our pastor, whose name is also Brent, announced a mission to Belize. Brent and I knew that the church was planning one, but we had decided that it wasn't the right time for us to financially be able to go. Well, that Sunday, I was in the balcony, running the video cameras and Brent was downstairs to collect the offering. Brother Brent got up, talked a little about Belize and a picture was put up on the screen. I have really never felt the Holy Spirit move in me, but that day, I did. I knew in my heart that God wanted us to go. Not just me, US. So, Brent came upstairs after he collected the offering, sat down and looked at me. I mouthed to him that we were supposed to go to Belize....and he said...I know. He got the same exact feeling at the same exact time. Wow. God is amazing!
So, our next thing was...the way to pay for it. But, we gave it over to God and prayed about it constantly. We had gone to Mexico on a mission trip last summer and definitely wanted to go back...but, we knew that it was God's plan for us to go...so we left the financial stuff to Him.
Obviously, He provided for us to go on BOTH mission trips. This was only the beginning of His Amazing Grace.
We arrived at the Memphis Airport early April 19th. After a brief layover in Houston...it was on to Camp Destiny, Belize. We arrived in Belize later that afternoon and took our time getting acquainted with Pastor Jim, Mrs. Jenny and Mardenie. This precious family has now become a part of our family. They are truly servants of God....Brent and I learned so much from them that week.
Sunday, we had a Vacation Bible School day camp. We ministered to around 200 children that day. Of course, it was crazy...but what VBS isn't? The children were precious...Brent, Chantay and I were in charge of crafts....one craft being a photo with a "frame" that they decorated. This was the most popular craft because they don't have many, if any, pictures of themselves. This day was awesome..but very tiring. I've gotta run now, stay tuned for more on our exciting adventure....I'll leave you with a few picutres from the week....
I'll finish later.....plus add more pictures....I have just a few!!:)
GOD IS GOOD!
